THE CHALLENGE
In many emerging economies, limited banking infrastructure leaves millions underbanked, reinforcing a cash-dominant society. Traditional open-loop tap-and-go solutions proved too costly and underutilized due to high fees.
Recognizing this gap, in 2020, the VerySell Group invested in extensive research and development efforts to build the VeryPay payment innovation.
The VeryPay team saw an opportunity for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to leverage closed-loop contactless payments—offering speed and convenience without the high costs. Our vision was more than just another payment system; we created an extension of mobile money, enhancing eWallet functionality to be more accessible, practical, and bank-free.

By combining multiple existing technologies, we developed a unique wallet companion platform and closed-loop contactless tap-and-go payment system—forming the backbone of VeryPay’s digital infrastructure.
After four years of development, VeryPay launched in 2024 and is now powering pilot projects with leading telecom operators across Africa.
More than just a technology, VeryPay is driving financial accessibility and inclusion across the continent.
Our discussions with MNOs across Africa highlighted a shared challenge—boosting mobile money adoption and app downloads, especially among last-mile users.
MNOs seek faster transitions to digital payments and VeryPay has started to drive this shift across Africa, enhancing mobile money utility in several countries and accelerating financial inclusion.
VERYPAY TODAY
The VeryPay Platform, developed by VeryPay Holding – a part of Verysell Group, is a transaction engine and NFC token management system that integrates with any e-wallet. Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) can use the VeryPay platform as a companion solution to run a contactless payment card scheme without needing issuers, acquirers, or payment service providers and under their own brand. With VeryPay, multiple payment tokens like cards and bracelets can be added to a single wallet, extending reach to those without a smartphone.

How is VeryPay Unique?
